Insurtech Artificial Labs raises $45M Series B, rebrands after US and German expansion
What's the deal? Artificial Labs, a provider of digital broking and underwriting technology for specialty and commercial insurance, has unveiled a new brand identity following $45 million in Series B funding and expansion into new markets.
What does it do? The company builds digital infrastructure for broking and underwriting, with software supporting interactions between brokers, underwriters, and capacity providers. It focuses on cutting operational work around underwriting and placement, where manual processes and disconnected systems slow transactions.
Why now? The rebrand follows a year of growth across the London, European, and US insurance markets. Artificial said its previous positioning no longer described the scope of the business.
The expansion: Alongside the raise, Artificial entered the US and German markets, moving beyond its original London base into a broader specialty and commercial client base. The new identity, "The Power Between," is meant to show brokers and underwriters where its technology sits within specialty distribution.
What's the endgame? Artificial positions its technology as supporting brokers and underwriters rather than replacing the relationships, specialist knowledge, and underwriting discipline involved in specialty risks. Its role has expanded as brokers and underwriters look for faster ways to work together and deploy capacity, according to co-founder and co-CEO Johnny Bridges.
"Clients aren't asking for additional technology without a clear operational purpose," Bridges said. He added that "The Power Between reflects what Artificial has become and where we're going next."
The signal: At $45 million, the round sits well above the typical insurtech raise, ranking in roughly the 78th percentile by size. That scale — paired with a two-market expansion — points to renewed investor appetite for infrastructure that streamlines specialty insurance rather than disrupting the intermediaries who run it.
