Maritime Robotics lands growth funding to scale autonomous sea drones

What's the deal? Maritime Robotics, a Norwegian maker of autonomous maritime systems, has raised a growth round led by Omnes CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a European private equity and infrastructure investor. New partner Mustard Seed + PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → joined alongside existing backers EnvisionTech, Nysnø Climate Investment, and UmoeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, plus the company's founders and employees.

What's the endgame? The company builds uncrewed sea drones for both civil and defence work — offshore energy maintenance, hydrographic surveying, environmental monitoring, and maritime domain awareness. It says it has delivered hundreds of systems and moved from early-stage pilots to fleet-level deployments for tier-one industrial and defence clients.

Where does the money go? The capital will expand production capacity, accelerate international commercialisation, and scale its dual-use systems to meet demand across civil and defence sectors.

Why now? The ocean covers more than 70% of the Earth's surface and underpins global trade, energy, and security, yet crewed operations face rising costs and safety risks. Autonomous drones offer a persistent, lower-emission alternative.

"Across both commercial and defense markets, autonomous systems are transitioning from pilot projects to core operational assets," said Vegard Evjen Hovstein, co-founder and chief executive officer of Maritime Robotics.

The signal: Investor appetite is shifting toward dual-use technology that serves both commercial and military buyers. With European maritime security in focus, backers are betting that uncrewed systems become standard infrastructure rather than experiments.
