Finland's Elmo buys Microsoft specialist Solu Digital to bolster AI push

What's the deal? Finnish ICT services company ElmoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired Solu DigitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Helsinki-based provider of information management solutions built on Microsoft technologies. The deal, announced on September 28, 2026, brings Solu Digital fully into Elmo; terms were not disclosed.

What does each company do? Elmo manages customers' ICT environments, cloud services, devices, cybersecurity, and business continuity. Solu Digital, founded in 2011, builds on Microsoft tools including SharePoint, Teams, Power Platform, Power BI, Copilot, and Microsoft Fabric, and has delivered solutions to more than 300 customers.

What's the endgame? Elmo wants customers to get AI and digital-work solutions plus the secure technical foundation they need from a single partner. The acquisition deepens Elmo's expertise in AI, data, and Microsoft productivity services.

Why now? AI is moving from experiment to everyday use across business functions. Elmo argues that technology alone does not create advantage — organisations also need usable data, secure platforms, and the skills to embed new tools in daily work.

What changes for customers? The immediate effect is a broader service offering. Elmo's existing customers gain deeper Microsoft, data, and AI expertise, while Solu Digital's clients get access to Elmo's ICT, cybersecurity, and managed services.

Solu Digital's products include Solu 365, which automates the creation and management of Teams groups and tightens information security. "AI is no longer a separate technology project; it is becoming part of almost all work and business," said Elmo chief executive officer Janne Aaltonen. "We want to help our customers move from AI talk to concrete, secure solutions that deliver measurable value."

The signal: The deal reflects a wider Nordic push to consolidate ICT, cybersecurity, and AI capabilities under one roof, positioning combined firms to sell full-stack digital transformation rather than point solutions.
