Now rebranded as NUSXDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, it will run the base out of the Munich Urban Colab, an 11,000m² innovation centre. The partnership spans three areas — reciprocal outposts, investment, and talent development — with an initial focus on biotech, AI, and semiconductors.

What's the endgame? The tie-up connects the Singapore and Munich ecosystems, giving NUS deep tech ventures more direct access to European partners, investors, and markets, while opening Singapore and Asia to Munich-based teams. NUS students will gain access to industry partners, technical expertise, and internships with the Munich VC partner's portfolio companies.

Why now? The move builds on a longstanding partnership through the NUS Overseas Colleges programme, with NOC Munich established in 2017. Since then, it has connected nearly 120 NUS students and more than 90 TUM students, with alumni going on to build ventures such as FactoremDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →.

Follow the money: NUS is in advanced discussions with a Munich-based VC firm closely affiliated with UnternehmerTUM to join the US$110M NUS VC Programme as its fifth partner. UnternehmerTUM, via TUM Venture LabsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, is also exploring a presence at the NUS i³ building in Singapore, giving Munich teams an entry point into Asia.

"Through reciprocal outposts, deeper investment links, and new opportunities for our students and start-ups, we are bringing talent, research and capital closer together," said Dr Tan Sian Wee, NUS senior vice president for innovation and enterprise.

The context: Since 2001, NUSX has nurtured 10 unicorns, more than 3,000 startups, and 5,500 students. TUM is home to over 140 scalable startups — including Celonis, Konux, and Isar Aerospace — and ranked Europe's leading startup hub for the third consecutive year. Both sides align with Singapore's RIE2030 strategy, which commits US$27.1B over five years to research, innovation, and enterprise.

The signal: The Munich launch is part of a wider NUSX push abroad. It opened its first outpost at Playground GlobalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s The Studio in Silicon Valley in July 2026 and plans a third in Shanghai in the fourth quarter — a bet that deep tech ventures increasingly need cross-border footholds to scale.
