Key findings

• Munich's startup ecosystem is worth €164B in 2025, five times its €32B value in 2016.
• Munich-based startups have created 118.5K jobs globally, and 43.2K of them, 36%, are located in Munich itself.
• Deep tech companies account for 16K jobs in Munich, 36% of all startup jobs in the city, or 19% once Infineon Technologies is excluded.
• Munich startups raised €2.3B of VC in 2024 and €970M in the first half of 2025, with the full 2025 year projected at €1.9B.
• Munich startups that have raised €100M or more employ about 180 local people on average, the largest average team of any funding stage.
