Boysen takes majority stake in AI energy optimiser Olmatic

What's the deal? Germany's Boysen GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → is acquiring a majority stake in OlmaticDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Stuttgart-based startup that uses AI to cut industrial energy costs. Terms were undisclosed. Olmatic, founded in 2016 by the Olma family, employs 20 people.

What's the endgame? At the core sits Olmatic's AI platform, visions, which pairs energy consulting with automated technical execution. It manages energy flows in real time — from dynamic power buying on exchanges to load management, battery storage, and self-generated energy.

What changes? Olmatic will move its headquarters from Stuttgart to Boysen's innovation centre in Nagold this October — a return to the region where the brothers founded the company. The site offers room to grow beyond the current 20-person team.

Why it matters? "Olmatic helps industrial companies and large commercial operations significantly reduce their electricity costs while substantially advancing decarbonisation," said Rolf Geisel, Boysen's supervisory board chairman (translated from German). Chief executive Patrick Olma called the deal a chance to scale "technologically, economically, and above all in reach."

The signal: Energy optimisation has become a top priority for nearly every company facing high power costs. By buying in, Boysen — an industrial supplier — bets that AI-driven energy control becomes a standalone business line, not just a cost-saving tool.
