RHP secures £70M debt package from Barclays for London homes
What's the deal? London landlord RHP GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has secured a £70 million debt funding package from Barclays. The 11,000-home provider said the money will fund its "next phase of investment" in new affordable homes, existing properties, and low-carbon improvements.
Who's involved? RHP operates across Richmond, Hounslow, Kingston, Hillingdon, and Spelthorne, and has delivered around 250 new homes over the past five years. Barclays is the sole lender on the package.
What's the endgame? Current projects include the Ham Close regeneration in south-west London, set to deliver 452 homes, and a retrofit programme in Barnes upgrading 208 homes. The funding supports both new construction and bringing existing homes up to energy standards.
Why now? The package extends a growth strategy RHP launched in 2024 to expand its social impact. In January 2025, it acquired 108 homes in Spelthorne from housing association L&QDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, following an earlier purchase of 201 homes in Richmond and Hounslow.
Sarah Thomas, chief executive of RHP, said the funding will "enable us to continue to invest in our existing homes to meet energy standards, as well as providing more new homes for local people."
The signal: Debt remains a core tool for UK social landlords balancing new supply against costly retrofit obligations. Mark Wecki, relationship director at Barclays, said RHP "is stepping up to support communities across London and the South East" as demand for sustainable housing rises.
