What's the endgame? Buson now sells tickets through WhatsApp and ChatGPTDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, betting that AI will reshape how people search for and buy travel. "Today we can sell on ChatGPT, we sell on WhatsApp," said Jefferson Inacio de Castro, Buson's director in Brazil (translated from Portuguese). "We understand that the inventory, the routes, the available seats have to be everywhere possible."

By the numbers: Buson has sold more than 100 million tickets over its history. It now draws over 2 million monthly visits, works with more than 300 bus operators, and offers about 140,000 routes.

Why the shift? Castro estimates about 30% of Brazil's bus tickets are already sold online, and he expects digital sales to eventually overtake physical channels. But bus operators are now investing in their own apps and websites, which could reduce the weight of traditional marketplaces. In response, the group wants to grow mainly by supplying technology to the operators themselves.

The signal: The round sits in the smaller tier of deals — around the 15th percentile by amount — but marks a clear pivot from consumer commission to infrastructure. As carriers build their own channels and AI tools become buying surfaces, Terra Mobility is repositioning from a marketplace into the software layer beneath ground transport.
