Ubinexus raises hundreds of millions of RMB for 6G space-ground network

What does it do? Founded in December 2021, Ubinexus designs satellite communication payload systems, products, and solutions for the satellite internet sector. Its work centres on communication satellite payloads and space-ground integrated networks.
What's the endgame? The company wants satellites to serve as the backbone of a 6G space-ground integrated network. "We are committed to making satellites the spatial cornerstone of the 6G space-ground integrated network," said founder and chief executive officer Peng Yuanyuan.
Where's the money going? The funds will support payload product iteration, satellite payload system upgrades, production capacity expansion, and growth of its satellite application business.
Why now? Ubinexus says its core products have moved from testing to engineering deployment and mass production. It has completed on-orbit verification of what it calls China's first spaceborne base station meeting the 3GPP 5G NTN standard, and its products have flown aboard the "China Mobile 01 Satellite." Its facilities have an annual capacity of 300 sets of core products.
The signal: This is the seventh round for a company barely four years old, with existing backers including Plum Ventures and Chuangxiang Investment doubling down. The repeat investment underscores growing capital interest in China's low-orbit satellite internet as the sector races to build out 6G infrastructure.
