Prescient raises $4.3M to push cancer drug PTX-100 through phase 2a
What's the deal? Prescient Therapeutics (ASX: PTX)Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Melbourne-based clinical-stage oncology company, has raised about US$3.88M (roughly $4.3 million) in post-IPO equity across a Share Purchase Plan and a follow-on placement.
The breakdown: The Share Purchase Plan drew US$3.1M from existing shareholders, while the placement added US$778.9K from sophisticated and professional investors. Both were priced at US$0.04 per share, with roughly 18,518,453 new shares issued under the placement.
What's the endgame? Prescient develops targeted cancer therapies. Its lead compound, PTX-100, is a first-in-class drug that blocks the enzyme GGTase-1 to disrupt oncogenic Ras pathways — mutations believed to feature in up to 22% of all cancers.
Why now? The funds carry PTX-100 past a Dose Optimisation Committee review scheduled for December 2026. That committee will recommend the dose to carry forward and advise on whether the study continues.
What's next? Chief executive officer James McDonnell said the raise funds progress "through Phase 2a," adding that the company aims to advance PTX-100 "into a Phase 2b study with registrational potential and, ultimately, toward commercialisation — whether by bringing PTX-100 to market ourselves or through a partnering outcome."
The signal: A modest top-up from mostly existing shareholders keeps a small-cap biotech funded to its next data milestone — a common survival move for clinical-stage companies that must clear each trial gate before pursuing a larger raise or a partner.
