Why it matters: Teal makes the Teal Wand, which it describes asthe first FDA-authorized at-home self-collection device for cervical cancer screening. Users collect a sample at home and send it to a lab for HPV testing, removing the need for a pelvic exam at a clinic. The company was granted FDA authorization in May ạ2025 and has since been building payor, health-system, employer and provider partnerships ahead of expected broader insurance coverage in 2027.

How it scales: Teal previously raised an $8.8 million seed round in January 2023 and an additional $10 million in January 2025, when it was preparing to launch the Teal Wand. The new capital is earmarked for scaling access to its screening platform and broadening those partnerships, rather than for product development alone. With cervical cancer remaining one of the most preventable cancers, the company's bet is that at-home self-collection can expand screening uptake among people who skip clinic-based screening.
