What's the endgame? TOGL helps companies with electric-vehicle fleets manage when their EVs draw power from the grid. By automatically calculating the best times to charge vehicles and other assets, customers can tap lower tariffs and cut energy costs.

Why now? The funding will accelerate the platform's commercial roll-out. Maden, who previously co-founded and grew EV charging software firm Fuuse, plans to expand the team, strengthen the technology, and deepen work with vehicle operators and energy partners.

"With TOGL, we are building a platform that makes the transition to electric vehicles more affordable, flexible and sustainable," said Maden, chief executive and co-founder.

The signal: Part of the backing came through Fhunded Angels, a network of private investors under Lancashire County Council's Fhunded programme that supports early-stage local businesses. Since launching in March, the network has raised more than £2 million in equity finance for Lancashire startups — a sign that regional angel money is finding a foothold outside the UK's main tech hubs.
