Monetary Metals raises $10.5M to grow its gold-yield marketplace

What's the deal? Monetary Metals, a Scottsdale, Arizona platform that lets gold owners earn a yield on their holdings, raised $10.5 million in an early-stage equity round. The financing drew both existing shareholders and new strategic investors, and surpassed the company's initial $10 million target.

What's the endgame? The company enables gold owners to earn income by leasing their metal to precious metals businesses such as jewelers and refiners, which use it to finance inventory. Founded in 2012 by economist Keith Weiner, it aims to reframe gold as a productive, income-generating asset rather than an idle store of value. The new capital will fund continued development of its Gold Yield Marketplace.

Why now? Monetary Metals says it has more than doubled the amount of gold deployed year over year and was recently named to the top 8% of the 2026 Inc. 5000 list. The round brings its total raised to nearly $25 million.

What they're saying: "The continued support we receive from investors reflects growing recognition that we have not only created a new category of gold ownership—gold fixed income—but that we are the leader in that category," said Weiner, the company's chief executive officer.

The signal: At $10.5 million, the round sits in roughly the top quarter of early-stage deals by size, a notable marker for a company building a niche financial product around a centuries-old asset. It suggests investor appetite for treating gold as more than a passive hedge — and for the infrastructure that makes that possible.
