Klar opens business credit and 6% cashback to Mexico's 10M+ sole traders

What's the deal? Klar has expanded its Klar Empresarial platform to serve Personas Físicas con Actividad Empresarial (PFAEs), the individual entrepreneurs and independent professionals who register their business activity for tax purposes in Mexico. The move opens credit lines, corporate cards, deposit accounts, investments, and cashback to a segment that previously struggled to qualify for business credit without incorporating.

Why now? Between 10 and 12 million taxpayers are registered as PFAEs or under the RESICO regime in Mexico, according to the tax authority (SAT, 2026). Together with small and medium-sized enterprises, they make up 99.8% of the country's productive base, per INEGI (2024).

What's the endgame? Klar wants to fold both individuals and companies into a single "360" ecosystem. Existing Klar Empresarial accounts already offer revolving credit lines of up to 5 million pesos without requiring property as collateral, underwritten by AI-driven risk models.

What are the features? PFAE users get tailored credit lines and cashback of up to 6% on digital advertising spend such as Google AdsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Meta, and TikTok Ads. The program also returns 5% on wholesale and office supplies at merchants including CostcoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Sam's ClubDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and Office Max; 3% on mobility and business travel through AeroméxicoDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Volaris, Uber, and Airbnb; and 2% on software subscriptions such as Google Workspace, AWS, and Salesforce.

"During years, individuals with business activity have been the engine of the Mexican economy, operating with the same demands as an incorporated company, but without financial tools built to their measure," said Daniel Benavides, chief revenue officer of Klar (translated from Spanish). He added that it was historically hard for an individual to access bank credit without forming a company, which limited growth.

The signal: Mexico's digital lenders are targeting the informal and semi-formal segments that traditional banks have left underserved. By turning everyday operating spend into margin and extending credit without collateral, Klar is betting the country's millions of sole traders are a large, largely untapped market.
