Fétis Group leads Series A in marine electrification startup Switch
What's the deal? France's Fétis GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has led a Series A round in Switch, a startup that manufactures engines and power-transmission equipment for marine electrification. The deal pairs Switch's technology with Fétis Group's engineering, integration, and industrialisation capabilities.
What's the endgame? The partners aim to accelerate development of electric and hybrid systems for professional fleets, spanning small workboats to vessels needing higher-capacity energy architectures. They plan to offer shipowners a more integrated package, from energy management to propulsion.
Why now? Switch is scaling fast. Founder Gildas Olivier said its first four projects ranged from €50,000 to €200,000, but it is now being approached for systems costing between €800,000 and €1 million.
The investment gives Switch a stronger financial and industrial platform as it moves towards larger retrofit and new-build projects. "We need to be more robust to gain customer trust," Olivier said.
Fétis Group, headquartered in Nantes, works across off-highway and special vehicles, marine, energy, and manufacturing. It employs more than 650 people in nine countries.
The signal: As demand for greener fleets grows, marine electrification is drawing established industrial players into partnerships with early-stage specialists — a bet that combining niche technology with scale is the path to bigger commercial projects.
