Depotcharge raises €2.7M to build shared truck-charging networks
What's the deal? Munich-based Depotcharge has raised €2.7 million in a pre-seed round to expand its shared charging platform for electric road freight and fund international growth. The round was led by High-Tech GründerfondsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, with xdeck VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. What's the endgame? Depotcharge lets logistics companies make unused charging capacity at their depots available to other fleets. Depot operators set their own prices, access rules, and availability, while Depotcharge handles access control, invoicing, and payments. The platform works independently of charging hardware, backend systems, and vehicle manufacturers.
Why now? As more operators invest in electric-truck charging, points can sit idle for parts of the day while drivers on the road rely on pricier public infrastructure. Depotcharge pools that spare capacity into shared networks.
What's the partnership? Alongside the raise, Depotcharge has teamed with the Bundesverband Güterkraftverkehr Logistik und Entsorgung (BGL)Dealroom has a profile for this one. "Logistics companies share their charging infrastructure with one another and unlock economic value across the sector," said Joscha Specks, chief executive officer and co-founder of Depotcharge (translated from German).
The new capital will fund further platform development and expansion abroad. Depotcharge plans to tie charging more closely into transport dispatch through reservations, open interfaces, and links with existing transport management systems.
The signal: Sharing idle depot infrastructure is emerging as a capital-light path to scaling electric freight, letting operators recover costs without waiting for public networks to catch up.
