What's the endgame? Founded in 2021 and headquartered in San Francisco with teams in India and Japan, Flam builds content that responds and streams as fast as video. It ships three formats: interactive videos that switch person, product, or scene mid-playback; 3D content on a camera interface; and human-like Visual Agents that hold conversations over a video call rather than a chat window.

Why now? Flam has signed more than 100 enterprise customers in six quarters, including GoogleDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, State FarmDealroom has a profile for this one. What's the money for? The capital goes to R&D on Flam's AI models, expanding the product suite, and scaling enterprise sales globally. The company holds more than 15 patents and three AI models.

"Content has moved in waves, from text to images to video, and every wave flowed one way, creator to viewer. We think interactive is the next default for the internet," said founder Shourya Agarwal. "The demand was always there. The technology wasn't."

QED's Nigel Morris framed the bet as a contrarian one. "Almost every frontier AI content company we see is optimizing what already exists," he said. "That gap is bigger than most people think, and Flam is the first team we've seen with the infrastructure to go after it."

The signal: At $40 million, Flam's round ranks in the top 10% of all-time Series B rounds for AI companies in India, a marker of how far the country's AI startups are stretching beyond incremental tools — and how quickly enterprise buyers are testing what comes after video.
