What's the endgame? The money will double Ed.ai's headcount and fund expansion in the US and Europe. It also prepares the startup's entry into higher education on both sides of the Atlantic.

Why now? Ed.ai's usage has scaled sharply since a €1.7 million pre-seed 15 months ago. It went from 100 corrected copies per week in September 2025 to 2,500 per day by June 2026, across 10 subjects, and has processed more than 100,000 copies in six months.

The traction: In surveys with the Lyon and Île-de-France education authorities, nine in 10 teachers said they intend to reuse or recommend the tool. Ed.ai reports a repeat-usage rate above 85% among teachers who test it.

By the numbers: The startup wants to lift processed copies to two million over the 2026-2027 school year. It aims to grow from 120 to 500 schools in France and from five to 50 US states.

"This funding gives us the means to match our ambitions: industrialize what's working in France, and replicate that same trust in the United States," the company said.

The signal: At €5 million, this seed sits in the top 1% of education seed rounds ever raised in France. It reflects growing investor appetite for AI tools that support teachers rather than replace them.
