Ariston buys 83% of Vietnam's Mutosi to enter water purification

What's the endgame? The deal moves Ariston into a new product category adjacent to its water heating business. "We expand into a fast-growing category that complements our existing water heating business," said executive chairman Paolo Merloni.
Why now? Ariston has operated in Vietnam for more than 38 years and is pushing to grow across Asia. It frames Vietnam as one of the most dynamic markets in Southeast Asia.
What changes for customers? Ariston plans to pair Mutosi's water purification expertise with its distribution network and service capabilities. "Together we will expand market reach, enhance customer service coverage and deliver even greater value to customers across Vietnam," said Umberto G. Crovella, executive vice president for Asia, Middle East and Africa.
The signal: The acquisition shows established climate and water heating players broadening into adjacent home water categories, using local acquisitions to enter fast-growing emerging markets.
