What does Square 9 do? Founded in 2005, it runs a unified platform that lets organisations capture, organise, retrieve, and automate the movement of documents. The system combines enterprise content management, AI-powered data capture, digital forms, and business process automation.
Its customer base spans more than 1,000 organisations across healthcare, government, manufacturing, agriculture, and transportation, reached through a network of channel partners.

Young framed the sale as a move to scale. "To reach our full potential, we believed we needed the guidance, expertise, and resources of an organization with a proven track record of helping its portfolio companies navigate exponential growth," he said.
The signal: The deal fits Valsoft's model of buying and holding vertical market software businesses for the long term, adding Square 9 to its decentralised portfolio while preserving the company's culture and customer focus.
