AP Ventures closes $300M Fund III for early-stage industrial tech

What's the deal? AP VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has closed AP Ventures Fund III LP at $300 million, raised from a global base of institutional investors. The London-based firm backs early-stage industrial and energy technology companies. It has already deployed into 13 portfolio companies since the fund's first close in 2024.

What's the endgame? Fund III works alongside founders through commercialisation, deployment, and scale-up. Its focus spans low-carbon molecules including hydrogen, carbon capture and utilisation, and circularity and advanced recycling.

Target sectors are energy-intensive, hard-to-abate industries such as chemicals, steel, aviation, and heavy mobility. The strategy broadens the firm's earlier hydrogen emphasis into areas like circularity and industrial resilience.

Why now? The firm frames the raise against accelerating demand for industrial infrastructure. Rising power demand, tightening supply chains for critical minerals, and the spread of AI and automation in industrial operations are reshaping how these systems are built and run.

What's inside the portfolio? Teragen EnergyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → makes solid oxide fuel cells for on-site power at data centres; Aether Fuels converts waste gases and biomass into drop-in liquid fuels for aviation and shipping; and ReclinkerDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → uses the electric arc furnace process to convert used cement into Ordinary Portland Cement.

"This final close reflects the confidence our existing and new investors place in AP Ventures' ability to identify and support exceptional technology companies," said Andrew Hinkly, founder and managing partner.

The signal: The close gives AP Ventures meaningful scale in a market where capital remains uneven — climate-tech investment rebounded in early 2026, but fundraising by dedicated climate funds reportedly slowed. Against smaller recent raises such as Climentum CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s €60 million first close and 360 Capital's €140 million first close, AP Ventures' $300 million marks a substantial bet on specialist, early-stage investing in hard-to-abate industries.
