Try Dealroom →, a global venture platform founded by former Amazon operators, has closed its inaugural fund, Rohati Fund IDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, at $50 million. The fund was oversubscribed against a $30 million target.

How it works: Rohati Fund I is split evenly between positions in a concentrated set of specialist venture funds and direct investments in companies. Every direct investment comes through one of those same funds. Its portfolio includes fund positions in Union Square Ventures and Gradient VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Who backed it? The fund drew limited partners across 16 countries: 17 Amazon executives and alumni, 27 professional venture and private equity investors, 20 founders and chief executive officers, and eight chief investment officers.

The backstory: Rohati's partners met at Amazon, where they built the business behind Amazon LendingDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. Launched in 2014, it used machine learning to underwrite marketplace sellers passed over by conventional credit scoring, extending more than $1.5 billion in credit across the US, UK, India, and Japan within two years.

Why now? The team says it saw a familiar problem in venture: the strongest returns concentrate among a small group of top-tier managers that are hard to identify, harder to access, and not raising in every vintage. Institutional allocators spend decades and staff whole teams to reach them.

What's the endgame? Rohati targets individual investors and family offices, which have historically faced two options. A direct fund offers the returns but ties an investor to one manager, vintage, and strategy; a fund-of-funds adds diversification but stacks fees and lengthens the path to distributions.

The signal: Rohati's blended structure is a bet that operators, not just allocators, can package access to elite managers for a wider pool of investors — importing an e-commerce lending playbook into the mechanics of venture.
