The two firms share a mission to improve the financial wellbeing of working people. Terms were not disclosed.

The players: Founded in 2015, Salary Finance works with around 500 employers, including roughly a fifth of the FTSE 100. It reaches more than 3.5 million employees and funds about £350 million of workplace finance each year through loans, payroll savings, earned wage access, and financial education.

What's the endgame? Combined, Salary Finance and Stream will reach 5.5 million British workers, plus millions more across the US and Europe. The deal pairs Salary Finance's workplace finance expertise with Stream's technology and broader product suite, opening room for investment in new services.

What changes? Salary Finance co-founder and chief executive officer Asesh Sarkar will join Stream as UK president and remain a shareholder in the enlarged business.

Why now? The transaction caps Salary Finance's 11-year run under Blenheim Chalcot, which backed the company from inception as an example of its venture builder model. Completion is expected in early 2027, subject to customary closing conditions, including Financial Conduct Authority approval.

The signal: The deal is the latest consolidation in embedded and workplace finance.
