eComID buys Nilum for recommerce push, weeks after €14.6M seed

What's the deal? Stockholm-based eComID has acquired fellow Stockholm startup NilumDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an AI-native second-hand shopping specialist, to enter the recommerce market. Nilum's founder, Jonas Fagerlund, joins eComID as head of recommerce. Terms were not disclosed.

What's the endgame? Founded in 2023, eComID is building a "Shopping Passport" — a system that lets shoppers carry their size, fit, taste, and preference data across connected brands. The acquisition marks eComID's first move into second-hand fashion. It plans to apply its personalisation technology to pre-owned items, tackling what it calls a scattered, hard-to-navigate market.

The hire: Fagerlund, who previously ran Nilum, now leads recommerce at eComID. "Nilum was built to make second-hand shopping radically easier by leveraging AI," he said, adding that eComID gives his technology "the context, reach and platform to move much faster."

The signal: The acquisition ties AI-driven personalisation to sustainable retail, a pairing investors are increasingly backing. eComID aims to make its Shopping Passport a cross-brand standard spanning both new and second-hand fashion.
