Who's involved? Founded in 1996, Arbor Capital has offices in Anchorage and Fairbanks. Its team of four advisors and two support staff is led by president Matthew Kolesky and principal Ty Schommer.

Why now? The acquisition marks Wealth Enhancement's first location in Alaska — its 41st state. It lifts the firm's total client assets past $161.7 billion across more than 194 offices nationwide.

Arbor provides fiduciary wealth management and financial planning to individuals, families, business owners, and institutional clients. Its services span investment management, retirement, tax, and trust and estate planning.

What changes for clients? Kolesky said clients "will continue working with the same trusted team, now backed by one of the nation's leading wealth management firms." Schommer said the deal gives clients access to "a broader team of specialists, deeper planning resources and advanced technology."

The strategic rationale: Jim Cahn, chief strategy officer at Wealth Enhancement, said Arbor "gives us a partner with long-standing credibility there from day one." Chief executive officer Jeff Dekko cited the team's "combination of personal connection and sophisticated planning."

The signal: The deal reflects continued consolidation in US wealth management, as national RIAs acquire established local firms to enter new regional markets with built-in credibility and client relationships rather than starting from scratch.
