Upwind raises $300M, valuation jumps to $3.8B in eight months

What's the deal? Israeli cloud security company Upwind has raised about $300 million in a late-stage round at a valuation of roughly $3.8 billion. Bessemer Venture Partners and TCV led the financing, with Craft Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, Greylock, Cyberstarts, Leaders FundDealroom has a profile for this one. Why now? The round lands less than eight months after Upwind closed a $250 million Series B at about $1.5 billion. The company has added roughly $2.3 billion to its valuation since January, as capital keeps flowing into firms at the intersection of cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and artificial intelligence.

What's the endgame? Founded in 2022 by Amiram Shachar and his partners from Spot.io — acquired by NetApp for $450 million in 2020 — Upwind builds cloud security software that monitors live, operating environments rather than relying on static scans. Its "runtime-first" approach aims to separate vulnerabilities that pose real risk from those that exist only on paper.

The company competes in the Cloud-Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) market, cutting the volume of security alerts so teams can focus on threats that can actually be exploited.

Why it matters: The deal shows how fast investor appetite for Upwind has accelerated. The company was valued at $800 million to $900 million in late 2024, hit $1.5 billion in January, and reached $1.6 billion in a subsequent Salesforce investment before this round.

The signal: At $300 million, this ranks among the largest late-stage rounds for the sector in the region — above the 97th percentile of comparable deals over the past four years. It underscores sustained demand for security tools built for cloud and AI-driven workloads.
