It also offers traditional business loans, focusing on gaming, music, digital content, and live events.

How it works: The company writes checks starting at $500,000 and up to $5 million in exchange for a cut — usually 50% — of a creator's platform revenue, plus a requirement to make new intellectual property. It backs creators of varying sizes, prioritising fan engagement over reach.

"We try to figure out what is the strength of the IP," said chief executive officer and cofounder Billy Huang. "We really love creators that have a cult-like following. They don't necessarily need to be big."

Why now? Cofounder Jack Cameron said creators have matured enough for platform earnings to be systematically backed. "It just shows a maturity in capital markets to acknowledge creators as businesses," he said.

Huang framed the shift in production costs. "It used to take hundreds of millions of dollars to publish a game that will make a couple million dollars a month, and now, in Roblox, in FortniteDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, kids are doing it in their basement," he said.

The context: CreatorFi raised a $12 million credit facility in 2025. Companies it has backed include music label Coasthill IV, gaming studio Mythical Games, and YouTubers Lah Mike and The Danza Project.

The signal: The round ranks in the 97th percentile by size among early-stage fintech deals in the US, underscoring investor appetite for creator financing. Rivals include Spotter, which works with YouTubers, plus beatBread and Sound Royalties in music — but a gap remains for the early- to mid-stage companies CreatorFi targets.
