Immunophotonics banks initial $10M Series C, names new CEO

What's the deal? Immunophotonics, a clinical-stage biotech developing immunostimulatory therapies to boost tumor ablation, has closed an initial $10 million Series C. The company also promoted Robert Arch, Ph.D., from president to president and chief executive officer, effective September 1, 2026.

What's the endgame? The funding will support non-clinical and clinical development of IP-001, the company's lead investigational drug, and advance its Phase 2 programs. IP-001 is a glycan polymer designed to prolong tumor antigen availability after ablation and trigger a systemic immune response against cancer cells. It is being evaluated across multiple solid tumour indications.

Why now? The company says the money should fund operations through several anticipated clinical milestones and data readouts. "Closing an initial $10 million of Series C financing allows us to remain focused on the milestones we believe matter most," Arch said.

What about the leadership change? Miguel Zubizarreta, interim CEO since 2025, steps down but stays on the board. Chairman Dr. Jonathan Knowles credited his "leadership and contributions during an important fundraising period," while Arch takes over a company he helped shape through business development, corporate strategy, and clinical development roles.

The signal: At $10 million, this is a modest raise — landing in the bottom quartile of comparable rounds by size. The "initial" framing suggests Immunophotonics is keeping the Series C open, prioritising clinical data readouts over headline dollars as it works toward regulatory milestones.
