Adaptyv raises $40M Series A to automate lab work for AI-designed proteins

What's the endgame? Adaptyv is building what it calls the automated lab for agentic biology. Its full-stack platform — powered by synthetic biology, nanofluidics, and machine learning — lets protein designers generate data and engineer new proteins for uses ranging from antibodies to industrial enzymes and alternative materials.
Why now? Over the past year, Adaptyv grew lab throughput more than 5x and onboarded over 100 customers. "We believe this is where biology is going: AI agents designing experiments, running them in automated wet labs, learning from the results and iterating," the team said in a LinkedIn post.
Where's the money going? Adaptyv plans to double its Lausanne team and open a new office and lab in London in the fourth quarter of 2026. The expansion pushes the platform closer to European AI drug-discovery customers.
The signal: At $40 million, the round sits in the top 4% of all-time Series A deals for deep tech startups in Switzerland. That scale reflects rising investor conviction that AI-designed biology needs automated labs to test its output at speed.
