TikTok commits US$59.8M to Malaysian sellers through JomLokal

What's the deal? TikTok said at TikTok Shop Summit Malaysia 2026 that it will commit up to US$59.8M during 2026 through its #JomLokal programme, supporting local sellers and creators.

The numbers: LIVE sales grew 48% year-on-year and now account for close to a third of platform sales. Almost six in 10 users name LIVE as their preferred shopping format.

What's changing? The commitment includes an additional US$16.7M through JomLokal Booster 2.0, building on a US$43M cost-of-living relief initiative launched with Malaysia's government in June 2026. The new programme offers 0% platform commission across 44 additional sub-categories, plus logistics and promotional support.

The signal: JomLokal has supported 400,000 local sellers and creators across 800,000 products, with participating sellers reporting 140% year-on-year sales growth as of June 2026. The programme also includes training, matchmaking, an US$0.48 standard-shipping rebate and expanded collection options.

By the category: Between July 2025 and July 2026, automotive grew 70%, household appliances 58%, pet supplies 57%, home improvement 47%, and baby and maternity 45% on the platform. Malaysian sellers saw sales rise 51% during the 2026 Ramadan and Raya period compared with regular days.
