Vienna's Klartext AI lands €75K grant for accessible-PDF tool Doclarity

What's the endgame? Doclarity targets the manual burden of making documents readable by screen readers and other assistive technologies. Why now? Digital accessibility is legally relevant for public bodies, educational institutions, banks, and insurers in many cases. Doclarity launched a free early-access programme in July 2026 and says it onboarded more than 70 institutions in the first month, including ministries, regional associations, and chambers of commerce.
The backstory: The grant follows earlier public backing. From May 2025 to April 2026, the project received €80,000 through the FFGDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s "Expedition Zukunft" initiative, and since April 2026 it has been supported by AI Factory Austria in Vienna with mentoring and compute resources.
Federal minister Peter Hanke attended the project's presentation. "Digitalisation must leave no one behind — on the contrary, it must benefit everyone in our country," he said (translated from German).
Founder Ruben Hetfleisch credited the public backing. "Without support from the public side, from the FFG through AI Factory Austria to the Vienna Business Agency, we would not be where we are today," he said (translated from German). The company plans to scale Doclarity beyond Austria into Europe.
The signal: At €75,000, this is a modest, non-dilutive grant rather than a venture round — sitting in the bottom half by size among comparable raises. But the stack of public support behind Doclarity points to how European accessibility rules are creating a niche market that state, research, and startup players are moving to fill together.
