Rein Therapeutics raises $44.3M to fund lung-disease drug trial

What's the deal? Rein Therapeutics (NASDAQ: RNTX) raised roughly $44.3 million in gross proceeds from an underwritten public offering, closed on May 4, 2026. It sold common stock, pre-funded warrants, and accompanying warrants, and underwriters fully exercised their over-allotment option.

What's the endgame? The money funds clinical development of LTI-03, a Cav1 peptide for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The company is enrolling patients in a Phase 2 trial of the drug, its primary value driver.

Why now? Rein ended the second quarter with $43.6 million in cash, cash equivalents, and investments — up from just $3.2 million at year-end 2025.

The numbers: For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Rein posted a net loss of $10.1 million, roughly flat against $10.0 million a year earlier. Research and development spending rose to $8.1 million from $7.4 million, reflecting the LTI-03 trial, while general and administrative costs fell to $2.5 million from $3.1 million.

What could go wrong? The offering sharply increased Rein's share count, diluting existing holders. The company also delayed development of its second program, LTI-01, indefinitely until it secures more funding.

The signal: For a small clinical-stage biotech, the raise buys runway to keep one lead programme moving while shelving another. It is a bet that concentrating capital on LTI-03 is worth the dilution.
