CesiumAstro buys chipmaker Jariet to build satellites from the chip up

What's the endgame? The acquisition gives CesiumAstro control across the production chain, from RF semiconductor technology to satellite systems. Integrating Jariet's technology is expected to support faster prototyping, lower size, weight, power and cost, and a more secure domestic semiconductor supply chain.
Why now? Satellite and defence equipment makers have traditionally outsourced specialised chip production, creating supply-chain delays and limiting hardware customisation.
What changes? Joint engineering teams plan to develop application-specific integrated circuits combining Jariet's mixed-signal semiconductor expertise with CesiumAstro's phased-array antennas and software-defined communications payloads.
