Try Dealroom →, a Quebec-based industrial machining company, is receiving US$513.3K in repayable funding from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)Dealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →. The company specialises in the maintenance and restoration of large-scale diesel engines.

Where's the money going? US$330K will fund specialised machining equipment to boost production capacity and productivity. A further US$183.3K will support the acquisition, renovation, and expansion of a building at the company's operations in Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine.

What's the endgame? Founded in 2015, OSM Atlantic serves customers in the maritime, energy, and defence sectors, providing inspection, machining, and restoration of oversized engine components. Its goal is to extend equipment life and cut unplanned downtime.

Why now? The company says the investments will help it meet growing demand, particularly from defence-sector customers.

"In our industry, an unplanned engine stoppage clearly costs more than maintaining the equipment," said Jean-Sébastien Aucoin, chief executive officer of OSM Atlantic. He added that CED's support "acts as leverage for all our financial partners."

The signal. Predictive maintenance is drawing capital as sectors like defence and energy push to keep costly equipment running longer. For a remote operator in Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, the loan signals a bet on regional industrial capacity.
