Stream targets share listing as US expansion accelerates
Stream, the workplace finance platform formerly known as Wagestream, is exploring a public market debut after closing a $90m Series D round in January 2026.
The round was led by Sofina, with participation from Balderton Capital, Northzone, Smash Capital, LocalGlobe, Ascension, British Business Bank, and Better Society Capital.
Co-founder and CEO Peter Briffett said the round may be Stream's last private fundraising before targeting profitability by the end of 2026. The company is considering an IPO, though the timing and listing venue remain undecided.
Stream rebranded from Wagestream in September 2025 as it expanded beyond earned wage access into a broader workplace finance platform covering savings, budgeting, financial coaching, and benefits claiming. The company serves over three million workers across 2,000 employers including NHS trusts, and has raised approximately $228m in equity to date, alongside a £300m debt facility from Citi in May 2025.
