Muthoot family trusts take 66.76% of Muthoot Fincorp in succession move
Six members of the Muthoot promoter group have settled an aggregate of 65,28,72,800 equity shares of Muthoot Fincorp Limited (MFL) into six family trusts, aligning with succession planning. The shares represent 66.76% of MFL's paid-up equity capital.
The settling individuals are Thomas John Muthoot, Thomas George Muthoot, Thomas Muthoot, Preethi John Muthoot, Nina George, and Remmy Thomas. Each vested shares into a corresponding trust, collectively the Acquirer Trusts.
MFL holds 50.21% of Muthoot Microfin Limited (MML), so the trusts now indirectly control that stake. Management confirmed no change in the total promoter shareholding in MML after the settlement.
MML shares fell 3.98% on Friday to ₹214.02, on daily volume of 5.66 million shares.
Moving family holdings into structured trusts is a common tool for orderly generational succession in promoter-led groups. The transaction reorganises control at MFL without disturbing MML's disclosed promoter ownership.
