Moss becomes Europe's newest unicorn with €30m Series C

What's the deal? Berlin-based AI finance platform Moss has raised a €30m Series C led by Portage Ventures, with existing backer Cherry Ventures also participating. The round values the spend-management company at €1bn, making Moss one of Germany's newest fintech unicorns.

Moss brings corporate cards, invoice management, expense reimbursements, real-time budgets, approvals and automated accounting together in one platform for small and mid-sized businesses. The company says it now serves more than 5,000 businesses across Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and Austria, generates more than €70m in annual recurring revenue and achieved 65% revenue growth despite a difficult funding environment.

Why now? The financing comes as Moss expands its Finance AI suite. Its AI agents already process more than two million transactions each month, helping finance teams categorise and reconcile spending while keeping people responsible for consequential decisions. In a survey of 471 finance leaders commissioned by Moss, 48% said control was their top priority for AI tools, compared with 6% who preferred full autonomy.

The company plans to use the new capital to develop additional AI agents and automate more financial workflows for mid-sized companies. Moss has also said it is targeting profitability by 2027, pairing its expansion plans with a stronger focus on operating efficiency.
