Rivo raises $2.7M seed to move idle cash into Treasuries automatically

What's the deal?

Rivo, a San Francisco consumer fintech, launched out of beta on August 4 alongside a $2.7 million seed round, taking its total funding to $3.1 million. South Park Commons, Wisdom Ventures, Script Capital, 645 Ventures, and 20VC backed the round, joined by angel investor Jag Duggal , former chief product officer at Nubank.

What's the endgame?

Rivo connects to a user's existing bank account and monitors cash flow in real time. It automatically shifts idle balances into higher-yield US government Treasuries through banking partner Jiko, then returns the funds before bills come due — no bank switching, no manual transfers.

Why now?

The company is targeting what it calls the Inertia Tax: the gap between what consumers earn on idle checking balances and what banks earn holding those deposits. US households and nonprofits held about $5.9 trillion in checkable deposits and currency at the end of Q1 2026, according to Federal Reserve data.

Rivo says a typical connected household earns close to 0.07% on idle cash while its bank captures the prevailing federal rate, near 3.6%. The stakes drew fresh attention in April 2026, when a federal court approved a $425 million settlement against Capital One over a savings product that paid loyal customers less than newer ones.

Who's behind it?

Founder and chief executive officer Ambrish Tyagi led AI at Cruise during the launch of its commercial robotaxi service and previously worked on applied AI at Amazon. "Most people aren't ignoring their money; they're busy, and the system was designed to profit from that," he said. The founding team includes alumni of Personal Capital, Mint, Capital One, JPMorgan Chase, Microsoft, and LinkedIn.

What could go wrong?

Rivo moves real customer money and must manage edge cases — shifted pay cycles, early bills, low shared accounts — while earning trust. "The product does not stop at advice," said Aditya Agarwal, general partner at South Park Commons. "It moves real money, manages edge cases, and has to earn trust through execution."

The signal:

At $2.7 million, Rivo's raise sits near the middle of comparable seed rounds. But it reflects a growing bet that fintech's next frontier is automation that acts on a user's behalf rather than merely recommending what to do — turning idle deposits into yield without demanding attention.
