Munitions maker Isengard raises early VC round to scale precision strike systems

The company builds precision strike systems and counter-UAS technologies, along with the manufacturing to produce them at scale.
What's the endgame? Founded by Francisco Serra-Martins, Isengard aims to strengthen the defense industrial base by manufacturing munitions faster and cheaper. The new capital will fund mass production of systems already engaged on the Ukrainian front.
Why now? As global conflicts expose weaknesses across the defense supply chain, producing munitions at scale has become a strategic priority for the US and its allies. "War is won in the factory as much as at the front, and years in Ukraine proved it to us," said Serra-Martins.
Where it's expanding: Isengard holds agreements with allied militaries across Europe, the Indo-Pacific, and the Middle East, with early engagement underway with US Army units. It plans to establish a US base of operations, with Florida under evaluation as a potential site.

The signal: Investor money is flowing toward the industrial layer of defense — the factories, not just the software. Backswing, which backs dual-use and defense technology companies, is betting that attritable mass produced cheaply is where Western militaries need to catch up.
