Amphenol lifts CommScope sales outlook to $4.6B as AI bets pay off
Amphenol has folded CommScope 's Connectivity and Cable Solutions business into its portfolio in a $10.5 billion cash deal, adding fiber-optic capabilities to its high-speed copper and power-interconnect range. The move strengthens the company's position in AI data-center infrastructure and broadens its reach across IT datacom, communications networks, industrial, defense and aerospace markets.
Amphenol raised its 2026 sales expectation for the CommScope business to $4.6 billion from $4.1 billion and doubled expected earnings accretion to 30 cents from 15 cents. The unit's operating margin topped 20% in the second quarter of 2026, including acquisition-related amortisation, moving it closer to Amphenol's profitability standards.
Amphenol is assembling a full range of connectivity solutions for current and next-generation data centres. CommScope is already tapping Amphenol's relationships with hyperscalers, system manufacturers and chip companies to push deeper into AI-related optical applications.
Rising data traffic is driving investment in wireless, broadband and network-upgrade projects. Earlier deals for Andrew and CommScope have improved Amphenol's ability to serve both network operators and equipment manufacturers.
Smaller acquisitions add to the picture. El.Com brings complex interconnect solutions and high-voltage cable assemblies for industrial, defense and aerospace customers in Europe, while Wilder Technologies strengthens high-speed testing and measurement capabilities.
Amphenol faces rising competition from TE Connectivity and Bel Fuse , and its shares trade at a premium valuation. TE Connectivity is building a similarly broad portfolio and expanding into optical connectivity through its RAM Photonics acquisition, which could pressure Amphenol's content share as hyperscalers qualify multiple suppliers.
Amphenol treats dealmaking as a core competitive advantage, using acquisitions to reduce dependence on any single application and open cross-selling across geographies and technologies. The CommScope integration shows how connectivity suppliers are racing to capture spending on AI data centres, next-generation aircraft and industrial electrification.
