What's the endgame? The money will fund completion of the company's TURBO study — an Investigational Device Exemption trial running in the US and Europe — and expand its platform of catheter sizes. The system uses a controlled cyclic aspiration approach designed to improve clot removal during mechanical thrombectomy.
Why now? "This financing enables us to complete the TURBO study, expand clinical experience across leading stroke centers, and data permitting, seek FDA approval for the RapidPulse system," said chief executive officer Sean McBrayer. The company was spun out of Syntheon.
Between the lines: The round stands out for its strategic backer. McBrayer said the support of Medtronic, "one of the largest medical technology companies in the world," reflects "growing recognition of the potential impact" of its approach.
What could go wrong? RapidPulse's regulatory pathway depends on TURBO results. FDA approval is contingent on the trial data, and the system remains investigational in both the US and Europe.
The signal: At $48 million, this Series B sits above the midpoint for rounds of its kind, underscoring investor appetite for stroke intervention technology. With a major strategic partner and top healthcare investors on board, RapidPulse is positioned to push through its pivotal trial toward regulatory milestones.
