What's the endgame? Nous makes Koncentra, a plant-based functional ingredient built on a proprietary extraction technology and designed to support energy, concentration, and mood. It targets makers of food, beverages, and dietary supplements.

Where does the money go? The company plans to accelerate commercialisation of Koncentra, run further clinical trials, and expand supply chains in Europe and Asia. It is also hiring and developing additional functional ingredients.

Market expansion: Nous is targeting a US market entry in November 2026, its next step after Europe. By the end of 2027, it aims to publish at least three clinical studies and lift Koncentra's production capacity to at least 60 metric tons per year.

Why the investors? Beyond capital, Nous said the round brings strategic support from backers experienced in ingredients, food tech, and international scaling — useful for a startup betting on clinical validation and cross-border growth.

The signal: The raise sits in the top 5% of all-time seed rounds for Italian food startups, a sign of investor appetite for science-backed functional ingredients. As demand grows for products promising energy and focus, plant-based inputs with clinical evidence are drawing early capital.
