Skalar raises €12m to build an AI-first tax and accounting firm

Munich-based Skalar has raised €12m in combined pre-seed and seed funding to build an AI-first tax and accounting firm from scratch. The startup pairs deep tax expertise with automation, aiming to deliver efficient, scalable and client-centric tax and compliance services for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Skalar is the latest venture from a serial founder who previously sold his startup to Klarna for €110m. Rather than selling software to incumbent tax advisers, Skalar is standing up its own tech-first tax practice — betting that automation can reshape how tax services are delivered to SMEs.
