Seetrum raises ¥100M+ Series A/A+ for spectral chips, Sunny Optical backs round
What's the deal? Seetrum, a Beijing-based optical chip startup, has raised over ¥100 million (about $15 million) in a combined Series A and A+ round. Sunny Optical TechnologyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Hong Kong-listed optical components maker, joined as a new investor, alongside existing shareholder Sincere CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →.
Who else is in? Guanxin Investment, China Bridge CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and Jingguang Technology Innovation Investment also participated in the round, which Seetrum announced on June 23, 2026.
What does it do? Founded in 2020, with core technology from a Tsinghua University team, Seetrum builds computational spectral chips, AI perception algorithms, and smart sensing solutions. Its consumer-grade spectral chips have entered mass production and are being integrated into smartphones and action cameras.
What's the endgame? The company targets edge-side applications, a different path from the high-speed optical chips used in data centres. Proceeds will fund spectral chip research and a new direction in physical-AI vision chips.
Why now? Seetrum recently unveiled what it calls the world's first "matter spectral chip" and won an OPPODealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → Joint Innovation Award. Its CMOS-compatible spectral solution is smaller and cheaper than traditional equipment, making it easier to embed in consumer electronics.
The signal: The round shows growing investor appetite for optical chips built for edge devices rather than data centres. Backing from Sunny Optical, an established components maker, points to a route from lab technology toward mass-market hardware.
