What's the endgame? The startup is building a cellular delivery platform that it says can transport biological signals into skin cells to influence ageing from within. That marks a departure from conventional cosmetics, which largely rely on ingredients that penetrate only the outer layers of skin. The technology is based on particles developed by Shira Orr, which form the basis of Factor X's patent, and targets specific cells including fibroblasts that help produce collagen. Applications the company is pursuing include stimulating hyaluronic acid production, addressing pigmentation, restoring colour to greying hair, and activating dormant hair follicles.
The product: Factor X says its particles can be produced as a stable powder that can be added to existing creams, serums, and masks without refrigerated storage. That underpins a business model aimed at partnering with large cosmetics companies rather than building its own manufacturing.
Why now? The company announced its launch after closing the pre-seed round, and is raising a seed round to expand development. It is at the proof-of-concept stage, with laboratory validation conducted in Boston, and plans to establish a research facility in Israel.
