InStockRx lands $5M Series A to scale pharmacy trading network

Why now? Pharmacies face thinning margins, supply constraints, and excess inventory. The platform lets sellers turn surplus stock into cash and buyers source needed medications while saving up to 40% on brand drugs.
What's the endgame? InStockRx now serves more than 1,600 verified pharmacies, from independent drugstores to multi-location operators, with transaction volume growing 50% month over month. The company will use the funding to extend the network to larger operators and organisations.
The platform is free to join, with no monthly fees; members pay only when they sell. Each trade automatically generates the T3 documentation — Transaction Information, Transaction History, and Transaction Statement — needed to support Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) requirements.
"We give them a practical way to recover surplus, source what they're short on, and keep cash moving, on a network where they know exactly who they're trading with," said Mac Dougherty, chief executive officer of InStockRx.
Investor view: FCA Venture Partners framed the deal around cost and care. "We back companies that improve patient care and take cost out of the system, and InStockRx does both by turning trapped pharmacy inventory into supply that reaches patients," said Matt King, managing partner at the firm. InStockRx is a graduate of Techstars Boston, which also joined the round.
The signal: Backing from an established healthcare investor and a well-known accelerator lends credibility to a niche model — direct pharmacy-to-pharmacy trading — that sits between compliance and cost recovery as drug supply pressures mount.
