Try Dealroom → from India's National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) and other shareholders for an undisclosed sum. TPG partnered with Singapore's GIC and ICICI BankDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → on the deal, made through its climate investing platform, TPG Rise Climate.

Who's involved? ICICI BankDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, India's second-largest private sector lender, will hold up to 5% in the 2020-founded Aseem. The deal marks a full exit for NIIF, the Government of India, and Japan's SMBCDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, all previously shareholders.

What does Aseem do? Founded by the government-promoted NIIF, it lends to sustainable infrastructure, focusing on renewable energy and power transmission. Since its 2020 founding, it has disbursed more than ₹40,000 crore in loans, funding over 27GW of renewable projects and 2,000km of transmission lines, and abating 33 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.

The rationale: TPG Capital Asia partner Sanjeev Mehra called Aseem an early mover in sustainable debt financing, "uniquely positioned to address the country's growing climate finance requirements." NIIF's Nilesh Shrivastava said Aseem's growth "reflects NIIF's ability to incubate and scale institutional-grade platforms, with strong profitability, governance and asset quality."

What changes? For ICICI BankDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the minority stake deepens its presence in sustainable project finance without taking balance-sheet control. For NIIF, the sale recycles capital after incubating one of India's leading green lenders.

The signal: India faces an estimated $100–125 billion annual energy-transition funding gap, and foreign and domestic investors are ramping up exposure to infrastructure credit. The deal folds Aseem into a widening pool of institutional capital chasing the country's green financing needs.
