Nuon raises US$15.9M from top shareholder KPM Tech in latest placement
What's the deal? South Korea's Nuon on July 6 disclosed a US$15.9M (roughly $12.4 million) private placement to its largest shareholder, KPM Tech. The company will issue 9,187,620 new common shares at US$1.73 each, with the shares set to list on July 28.
Where the money goes: Nuon plans to spend about US$1.26M on operating funds and US$14.7M on acquiring securities in other companies.
Why now? The round extends a pattern of repeated third-party placements Nuon has used to raise capital. In December 2025, it allocated a US$10.1M placement to KPM Tech alone for operating funds, alongside a separate US$12.2M placement earmarked for operations and debt repayment.
What could go wrong? Third-party placements dilute existing shareholders and shift control toward the largest shareholder and related parties. With KPM Tech again taking the full allocation, the deal reinforces the parent's grip while raising the familiar tension between financial stability and shareholder value.
The signal: By raising the amount to US$15.9M, Nuon is scaling up a financing playbook built on recurring placements rather than bank borrowing — a sign that its appetite for operating funds and expansion capital remains strong, and that market opinion on the trade-off is likely to stay divided.
