Daydreams raises $250K from Pump Fund to build AI agent marketplace
What's the deal? Daydreams, an on-chain AI agent toolkit, has secured a $250,000 investment from Pump Fund — the venture arm of memecoin launchpad Pump.fun. The project is the 11th winner of Pump Fund's Build in Public hackathon.
Daydreams is building a task marketplace where AI agents can transact with each other, forming what it calls an "agent economy." Alongside the marketplace, the team has released a Dreams Router for agent discovery and search, plus an SDK for developers.
The team has also drafted two Ethereum standards — ERC-8194 (payment-gated transaction relay) and ERC-8195 (task marketplace protocol) — both currently under community review.
Why now? On-chain AI agents have become one of crypto's hottest sectors, with projects racing to create infrastructure that lets autonomous agents interact, pay each other, and complete tasks without human intervention. Pump.fun, already a dominant force in Solana's memecoin ecosystem, is using its fund to back early-stage projects pushing the space forward.
What could go wrong? Agent-to-agent marketplaces remain largely theoretical. Real demand for autonomous AI task execution on-chain is unproven, and the proposed Ethereum standards are still drafts with no guarantee of adoption. At $250K, the investment is modest — enough for early development but far from what's needed to build robust infrastructure.
The signal: Pump.fun's bet on AI agent infrastructure signals a shift beyond memecoins. The broader trend is clear: crypto builders are wagering that AI agents will need native on-chain rails for payments, discovery, and coordination. If that thesis plays out, early infrastructure like Daydreams could become foundational. Daydreams' founder, loaf, brings 10 years of engineering experience, with five years focused on on-chain gaming — a background well suited to building complex interactive systems.
