Globelink Fiber lands Cequel III backing for AI-scale fibre network in Texas

Globelink's product suite targets hyperscalers, data centre developers, and major carriers, offering high-count dark fibre, gigabit waves, managed private networks, and custom construction services.
Why now? The explosive growth of AI workloads has triggered a data centre building boom across Texas, particularly in the western part of the state where land and power are relatively abundant. Those facilities need massive fibre connectivity to reach major metro areas — and the infrastructure doesn't yet exist at the scale required.
"Through past and present Cequel III portfolio companies, our team is well aware of the power, promise, and growth trajectory of artificial intelligence and other compute-intensive, GPU-accelerated workloads," said Matthew Kent, senior vice president of planning and corporate development at Cequel III.

Building 1,600 miles of fibre through West Texas is a capital-intensive undertaking, and the undisclosed funding amount raises questions about whether the company has enough runway to complete even the first phase.
